Specializing in Injury Prevention and Athlete Development, Shauna assists athletes of all ages and skill levels.
Originally from a small coastal town in California, Shauna grew up playing sports at a very young age and was always outdoors camping and hiking with her family. She enjoys just about every outdoor activity (surprisingly, not surfing). She played fast pitch softball for 25+ years and in high school played varsity waterpolo/swimming. In college, she played racquetball, roller derby and started distance running. Currently, she participates regularly in running, hiking, cycling, mountain biking, snowboarding, skiing, and ski touring. No matter the season there is a sport to enjoy. She has run several marathons, half marathons, and numerous small distance races. Her athletic aspirations include racing competitively in enduro and downhill mountain biking.
With activities such as these a base level of strength is required to reduce overuse injuries as well as excel and perform well. While working directly with athletes on the sidelines of many sporting events, she has witnessed first-hand the types of injuries that are involved with most sports and knows that strengthening programs help reduce risk of injury and enhance strength and stamina for competition and for general everyday activities. Combined with her background in sports conditioning and her current research work in mindfulness, she takes her knowledge of injury prevention and sports medicine to devise programs that are holistic and teaches movement efficiency to maximize strength and performance potential.
While her use of science and expertise guides the programming and coaching, her positive vibes, bubbly personality, and contagious energy will help encourage and motivate!
Her education includes Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training at University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Masters of Science in Sports Conditioning, and currently researching injury prevention as a PhD student at Concordia University, Montreal.
